Possible Film Companies to Produce and Distribute 'When Duty Calls'

I will be including idents for production and distribution companies at the start of my trailers and as logos on my poster as this is a convention that I have seen in all of the marketing materials I have analysed, both those within and outside of the action genre and its hybrids. 

Therefore, in this blog post, I will be researching production companies that have a history of producing or distributing iconic action films. Eventually, I will pick a number of production and distribution companies that I think are the best to produce my film. However, I will try and pick at maximum three companies as action films are typically known to be higher budget and therefore often don't have as many companies involved as lower budget, more independent movies.

Warner Brothers

It is a huge Hollywood production and distribution company that is known for producing some of the most iconic action films in cinema history, including the 'Dark Knight' trilogy, the 'Matrix' franchise and 'Inception'. 

The studio is well regarded for its high budget, visually impressive films and for working with many talented directors such as Christopher Nolan and the Wachowskis, and many talented actors such as Keanu Reeves and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Universal Pictures

Also a huge Hollywood company that has produced and distributed numerous well-known action franchises that have made a lasting impact on the genre. These include the iconic 'Fast and Furious' franchise, the 'Jurassic World' collection, the 'Jason Bourne' series and 'The Mummy' franchise. 

The studio has also worked with popular action actors such as Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt and Matt Damon and focuses on epic intense scenes in all of their action films.

Paramount Pictures

A major Hollywood film studio, known for producing and distributing many well-known action franchises including the 'Mission Impossible' collection, which has become one of the most successful franchises in the action genre. 

The franchise is renowned for its thrilling scenes, epic stunts and the continuity of Tom Cruise as the lead, captivating audiences with his never-ending missions to save the day. The consistency and familiarity of the films make it a favourite among fans. Additionally, the production company have created other popular collections such as the 'Indiana Jones' franchise, the 'G.I. Joe' collection and the 'Jack Reacher' series of films which are all massive hits with audiences and all feature huge stars and popular directors.

20th Century Studios

Formerly known as 20th Century Fox (and now owned by Disney), this is a well-known Hollywood production and distribution company known for producing some of the biggest action films such as 'Die Hard', the 'X-Men' series and also the highest-grossing film ever 'Avatar'. 

They have worked with some great names such as James Cameron, Bruce Willis and Hugh Jackman.

Eon Productions

A British film production company best known for co-producing many of the James Bond films. 

This franchise has become one of the most iconic action franchises in the history of film. This is because it follows many conventions within the genre and captivates the audience by using memorable characters and stylish storytelling.

Millennium Films

An independent American production company that is known for co-producing action-thriller franchises such as the '...Has Fallen' collection and 'The Expendables' franchise which are both great examples of intense action films, alongside action-comedies such as 'Jolt'.

Skydance Media

American film company known for co-producing big budget films such as the 'Mission Impossible' franchise and the 'Jack Reacher' collection in association with higher profile Hollywood studios. 

Both are incredibly exciting franchises that follow individual characters taking on challenges and risking their lives to save the day.
