Analysing Action Film Social Media Pages - 'In the Lost Lands'

'In the Lost Lands' has social media pages for Instagram, Facebook and X and I will be looking at how the action genre influences the different social media pages, and how the genre comes across on the posts.

'In the Lost Lands' - Instagram

While this social media page contains the typical conventions of a social media page advertising for a film release. The conventions which highlight the genre of the film include:

• Intense trailers which are full of eye candy, typical iconography, fast paced editing, dark colour palette, intense non-diegetic music, sans serif font which is used to highlight the release date and to convey the taglines to the audience. Additionally, in the trailer it makes reference to crew who have worked on well known films/TV series which are linked to the action genre
• Behind the scenes stunt work
• Posters/images from the film which use dark colours and typical mise-en-scene such as desolated landscapes, weapons including guns, wrench and swords and medieval inspired costumes which help give them some secrecy
• Reference to actors who have been in previous action films

 Although the layout is slightly different to their Instagram page, as there is a big main poster at the top of the page and a separate section for their posters/photos, they still include the same posts which help convey the genre to the audience, this includes:

The only difference for 'In the Lost Lands' X page is that they repost other posts from other accounts so fans can see more about the film and get extra excited for the release. Other than that, it has all the same conventions as the other social media pages for the film as it contains the same content.
