Analysing Action Film Social Media Pages - 'Novocaine'

'Novocaine' has social media pages for Instagram, Facebook and X and I will be looking at how the action genre influences the different social media pages, and how the genre comes across on the posts.

'Novocaine' - Instagram

Although the layout is conventional for the platform, the main elements that indicate the genre of the film include:

  • Iconography used in trailers/posters is typical of action genre (guns/knives, combat gear, motorbikes, urban cities, dark colour pallete)
  • Bold colour palette highlights intensity
  • Sans serif font with impactful taglines which emphasise action/danger
  • Trailers full of eye candy (fighting, chase scenes, explosions)
  • Fast paced trailers that keep the adrenaline high
  • Behind the scenes action stunts
  • The protagonist is in many of the posts

'Novocaine' - Facebook

The main elements that indicate the genre of the film on their Facebook page include:

  • Action packed profile picture which is their main poster
  • Other posters which highlight the genre through mise-en-scene which are all under the ‘photos’ section which is slightly different from the Instagram layout
  • Action packed trailers which are pinned at the top of the page
They have the same:

  • Iconography used in trailers/posters which is typical of action genre (guns/knives, combat gear, motorbikes, urban cities, dark colour pallete )
  • Bold colour palette highlights intensity
  • Sans serif font with impactful taglines which emphasise action/danger
  • Trailers full of eye candy (fighting, chase scenes, explosions)
  • Fast paced trailers that keep the adrenaline high
  • Behind the scene action stunts
  • The protagonist is in many of the posts
  • 'Novocaine' - X

Their X page has the same conventions as their other social media pages which highlight the genre, however the layout is slightly different and some of their posts are reposts from other peoples posts, which they have decided to put on their social media page that make audiences more interested in the film.
