Comparing Social Media Pages - 'Mickey 17'
'Mickey 17' has social media pages for Instagram, Facebook and X and I will be looking at how they are presented and the typical conventions of social media pages.
The 'Mickey 17' Instagram page consists of many different trailers (which are all pinned), posters for the film, behind the scenes with cast, crew and the director. There is also lots of sneak peek exclusive looks at the film with lots of reviews from well known newspapers. The bio reinforces that the film is in theatres on March 7th therefore the Instagram page is very active and is bombarding audiences so they can get more people to watch the film in cinemas. They also have a link to their website which has lots of clips/trailers from the film as well as a synopsis and a photo gallery. They are also frequently posting stories to advertise their film and get people to watch it once it is released. It is not so clear what genre the film is however the colour palette would suggest the film is in some sense a comedy as it is quite bright, and the iconography seen in trailers/posters might suggest the film is a sci-fi therefore audiences could put two and two together and come to a conclusion that the film is a sci-fi comedy hybrid.
'Mickey 17'’s facebook page is pretty similar to the Instagram page however the layout is slightly different. At the top there is a landscape poster of the film which has many reviews on and reinforces the release date and the format of the film. The posts consist of trailers (which are in the featured bit right at the top), posters, behind the scenes, Q&A, exclusive clips, interviews and reviews. There is also a photo section which is actually photos of cast mainly on red carpets and at award ceremonies, but there is also posters of the film there. There is a small intro which is like the Instagrams bio which reinforces the date it is released, reviews, production company and website.
The X page for 'Mickey 17' is also very similar to the other social media pages, however the only difference is the format of the page. The posts for the page are all together under each other and they include all the trailers, posters, reviews, Q&A, behind the scenes/exclusive looks and interviews with director, cast and crew. Additionally, there are lots of posts on their page that the film has re-posted so people can also see those posts which they believe helps them advertise their film.
