Analysing Action Film Trailers - Conclusion

Action film trailers use all the elements that I noticed when analysing general film trailers, for instance production company idents at the beginning, title cards for titles, music, taglines and references to the cast/director, lots of clips from the film (eye candy), indication of genre and a billing block/release date at the end. However, after looking specifically at action films, it is clear that all of these elements have been influenced by the genre.

The most obvious elements in the trailers which have been influenced by the genre are:
  •  Intense non-diegetic music
  •  Fast paced editing
  •  Typical action film iconography/eye candy
  •  Typical cinematography including handheld camerawork, whip pans and long shots
  •  Sans serif font used for titles
When it comes to making my trailers for my film I will use my findings here to help me make authentic trailers which reflect the genre.
