Analysing Action Film Posters - Conclusion

Having looked at many posters from the action genre I have been able to identify the following conventions, which I will consider adding to my poster when it comes to designing it.

These include:

• Typical iconography of the action genre (guns/weapons, military costumes, helicopters, isolated settings, explosions)

• Sans serif font usually with scratches

• Short snappy title 

• Exciting taglines which reference danger/violence

• Age restriction highlights violent action scenes

• Well known cast names (associated with genre)

• Dark colour palette/low-key lighting 

• Intense facial expressions

• Enigma/mystery
