Comparing Social Media Pages - 'Dune: Part Two'

'Dune: Part Two' has social media pages for Instagram, Facebook and X and I will be looking at how they are presented and the typical conventions of social media pages.

'Dune: Part Two' - Instagram

'Dune: Part Two's Instagram page has many posts and reels since the film was announced. The types of posts/reels include trailers for the film (teasers, theatrical and TV spots), clips and pictures from the film, behind the scenes with cast and crew as they answer questions (usually the director and the well known characters such as Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet and Florence Pugh), positive reviews from well known newspapers and critics and finally lots of references to awards the film has been nominated for which are over pictures from the film. Additionally, in their bio they advertise that the film is now available to own on digital and 4K Ultra HD as it has finished its run in theatres and they have a hashtag for people to tag after watching the film, so the film still gets acknowledged and watched in future years. Finally, they have a link to their website and soundtrack.

'Dune: Part Two' - Facebook

The facebook page for the film is different from the Instagram page as although there are many photos/clips from the film, reference to awards they have been nominated for, and also all the different trailers for the film, most of the posts include discussions/interviews with the cast and crew but also advertising for 'Dune' books and the new 'Dune' series on Sky.

'Dune: Part Two' - X

Their X page is more or less the same as their Instagram page regarding the content on their sites. However, they have a link in their bio which takes people to their website and has many features which include allowing people to see where the film is playing, how to watch it at home/buy it at home, but it also has all the different types of trailers as well as a brief description of the film. This is something that the other two social media pages don't have and it makes it easier for people to navigate the film.

All the social media pages for 'Dune: Part Two' promote similar clips, photos and information about the films, however the layout for each is slightly different as they all follow the conventions of their platform. It is clear that the film is a sci-fi, based of the iconography used throughout the posts. Additionally, the sans serif font may also emphasise the genre and make it clear to the audience that the film is action packed and high budget.
